Formula 1 - Canadian Grand Prix

A drama-filled Canadian GP has come to a close with McLaren clinching its second 1-2 finish in a row and stretching its championship advantage after 8 rounds of the calendar completed.

On a track, where he claimed his maiden victory, Hamilton drove a hard-fought race from pole to claim his second consecutive win of the season and assumed the lead in the drivers' title race. Button finished second and trails his teammate on the championship table by just 3 points.

Alonso took the final podium place but may be a bit disappointed at being relegated to third in the final laps.

Vettel and Webber completed the Top 5 while Rosberg finished sixth in his Mercedes.

Kubica, who won the last race on this track in 2008 came home seventh ahead of Buemi, who registered his best finish of the season for Toro Rosso.

Teammates Liuzzi and Sutil passed seven-time Canadian GP winner Schumacher on the last lap to give Force India a double points-finish.

The season returns to Europe in two weeks' time as Valencia prepares to be a centre of focus.
